This work entitled Fatal attraction? A mini-review of the issues raised by a dynamical systems approach to adaptive behaviour was a term paper submitted as coursework for the Simulation of Adaptive Behaviour module of EASy MSc, Sussex University, April 2008.

Abstract

The dynamical perspective presents a rigorous and conceptually clean appreciation of the way the behaviour of a system plays out in time. In recent years, the framework is gaining popularity as the main scaffold in which to place and explain the adaptive behaviour of robots and living systems. However, often lost in the merits of dynamical systems modelling are a new set of issues which limit applicability. This work is aimed at revealing those limits in more detail.
